Meet Dr. J. Travis Thompson
Dr. Thompson served as a general dental officer in the U.S. Army for three years before being selected to receive advanced oral surgery training at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center. He was then promoted to Chief of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at this Army level II trauma center and later was appointed Chief of Surgical Research at the U.S. Army Dental & Trauma Research Detachment.
Dr. Thompson grew up in Mundelein and attended Southern Illinois University for his B.A. He continued his education at the University of Illinois where he earned a B.S. as well as a Doctor of Dental Surgery. His clinical interests are in maxillofacial pathology & trauma and the management of complex medical patients. He is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support and is a CPR instructor.
Dr. Thompson is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Fellow of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Fellow in American College of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, active member of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and is active in the Illinois Association of Oral & Maxillofacial surgery, ADA and The Chicago Dental Association. He is currently on staff at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, Illinois.
He is happily married to his wife, Jennifer, they have three children. The Thompsons currently reside in the Barrington area. Dr. Thompson has interests in weightlifting, trap/skeet shooting, coin collecting and astronomy.
