At Oral Facial & Implant Specialists, we are able to take digital impressions using a specialized scanning device, known as the Trios® Scanner. This highly advanced tool allows Drs. Thompson & Zidron to take accurate and precise 3D images of your oral cavity. The Trios® Scanner helps us create a virtual map of your mouth, laying out every peak and valley of your biting surfaces. With this scan, we can then send the information to a dental lab for the fabrication of surgical guides, crowns and dental appliances.
What Digital Impressions Are Used For:
Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is rapidly advancing in the area of science. Staying up to date with the latest technical advances is very important to our staff at Oral Facial & Implant Specialists. We are taking your interests and your comfort into consideration. The Trios® Scanner allows Drs. Thompson & Zidron to take, highly accurate, 3D images of not only your teeth but, also the surrounding hard ridges and soft gum tissue.
How Digital Impressions Benefit Our Patients:
The Trios® Scanner provides our patients with several benefits over traditional mold impressions. Namely, this system is much more comfortable for our patients. No more messy impression material, while we obtain the necessary measurements of their teeth. Secondly, we will never need to redo or retake an impression, this is because a patient’s shifting or movement does not distort the scan. This eliminates the feeling of invasiveness or discomfort often caused by impressions. Third, with the real-time digital image display of the scan, we are able to make immediate adjustments, assuring that all measurements are correct. Finally, the image qualities of the digital images we have taken are far superior to conventional mold impressions.
