Opioid Patient Education
- Be aware that the possibility of adverse effects increase with prescription opioid use (nausea, vomiting, constipation)
- There is significant potential for misuse, abuse and overdose with prescription opioids
- Never adjust your own doses
- Never mix with alcohol
- Remember, taking sleep aids, or anti-anxiety medications together with opioid pain medication can be dangerous
- Always tell your healthcare provider about all medications you are taking from any source
- Keep your medications locked in a safe place
